Getting to know our new home
After a night of switching the A/C on and off every two to three hours (shivering, sweating, repeat), skriehma and I both got up at around 6am local time - that was noon "our" time anyway. So we enjoyed our jetlag-bonus and were among the early risers on the streets - not that we'd be alone despite the early time in a city like New York.
Our first stop was an internet-café
, where we arranged for a cheap flatrate account to use with skriehma's laptop's 56k-modem. This is why we are now able to keep you informed from our lair between the sleezy dvd joints. After that we hit a nice "whole-foods"-place
for breakfast
. It was small (according to me, not skriehma), but tasty.
Then we extorted $2200 out of an ATM. That probably made it mad because it gave us the cash in twenties.
The money's for Nick.
After excellent Mexican take-out food, we took the infamous New York Subway to Lincoln Center
, at the southern tip of Central Park.
After crossing through half of it,

we decided to cross back over to .. civilization ..
and the shiny, air-conditioned cars of the New York subway.
